Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 15, 2026

Your Privacy is Our Priority: At Calculatorzed, we believe that trust is the foundation of any digital relationship. This Privacy Policy is designed to be transparent, comprehensive, and easy to understand. It explains exactly what information we collect, how we use it, the legal bases for processing it, and the rights you have over your data. By using our website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Introduction and Scope

Welcome to Calculatorzed (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Platform”). We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users (“you,” “your,” or “users”). This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, disclosure, retention, and protection of information when you access, browse, or interact with our website, including all subdomains, calculators, tools, articles, guides, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

This policy applies to all information collected through our Services, regardless of how you access them (e.g., via desktop, mobile device, or tablet). It is intended to comply with applicable data protection laws, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for users in California, and the Data Protection Act No. 3 of 2021 for users in the Republic of Zambia.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms outlined herein, you must discontinue your use of our Services immediately. We reserve the right to update or modify this policy at any time, and your continued use of the Platform following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

2. Definitions

To ensure clarity and mutual understanding, the following terms used throughout this Privacy Policy shall have the meanings ascribed to them below:

  • Personal Data: Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, by reference to an identifier such as a name, identification number, location data, online identifier, or factors specific to their physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity.
  • Processing: Any operation or set of operations performed on Personal Data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation, alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure, alignment, combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction.
  • Data Controller: The entity that determines the purposes and means of the processing of Personal Data. For the purposes of this policy, Calculatorzed acts as the Data Controller.
  • Data Processor: A natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or other body which processes Personal Data on behalf of the Data Controller.
  • Cookies: Small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit our website, used to remember your preferences and track usage patterns.

3. Information We Collect

We collect various types of information to provide, maintain, and improve our Services. The information we collect depends on how you interact with our Platform. We categorize this information into three primary types:

3.1. Information You Provide Directly to Us

We collect Personal Data that you voluntarily provide to us when you choose to engage in specific activities on our Platform. This may include:

  • Contact Information: If you use our contact forms, subscribe to our newsletter, or send us an email, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
  • Feedback and Surveys: If you choose to participate in user surveys, feedback forms, or beta testing programs, we may collect your opinions, preferences, and any Personal Data you choose to include in your responses.
  • Account Information: If we introduce user accounts in the future, we will collect registration details such as your username, password (stored in hashed format), and profile information.

3.2. Information Collected Automatically

When you access our Services, our servers and third-party analytics tools automatically collect certain technical information about your device and your interaction with our Platform. This information is crucial for ensuring the security, functionality, and optimization of our Services. It includes:

  • Device and Browser Information: Your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type (mobile, tablet, desktop), screen resolution, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, clickstream data, referring/exit pages, date and time stamps, and the specific calculators or tools you utilize.
  • Network Information: Internet Service Provider (ISP), connection type (Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G), and approximate geographic location derived from your IP address (country, region, city).

3.3. Calculator-Specific Data Processing (Client-Side Execution)

We want to be explicitly clear about how our core tools—our calculators—handle your data. The vast majority of calculators on Calculatorzed (including financial, construction, health, and mathematical calculators) operate entirely client-side.

This means that when you input numbers, figures, or personal metrics into our calculators, the mathematical processing occurs locally within your own web browser using JavaScript. We do not transmit, collect, store, or log the specific numerical inputs or calculation results you enter into these tools. Your financial figures, construction measurements, health metrics, and academic scores remain exclusively on your device and are never accessible to our servers.

4. How We Use Your Information

We process your Personal Data only when we have a valid legal basis to do so. We use the information we collect for the following specific purposes:

  • Service Delivery and Maintenance: To operate, maintain, and provide the features and functionalities of our calculators, tools, and articles. This includes ensuring that the website loads correctly and that calculations are processed accurately on your device.
  • Customer Support and Communication: To respond to your inquiries, comments, or feedback submitted through our contact forms. We use your email address to send you administrative notices, technical updates, and responses to your specific requests.
  • Platform Improvement and Optimization: To analyze usage trends, monitor the performance of our calculators, and identify areas where our content or user interface can be improved. This helps us understand which tools are most valuable to our users.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents, malicious attacks, unauthorized access, and other illegal activities. We analyze traffic patterns and IP addresses to protect our infrastructure.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests. This includes responding to lawful subpoenas, court orders, or regulatory inquiries.
  • Marketing and Communications (With Consent): If you have explicitly opted in, we may send you newsletters, promotional materials, or updates about new calculators and features. You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time.
  • Enforcement of Terms: To enforce our Terms of Service, investigate potential violations, and protect the rights, property, and safety of Calculatorzed, our users, and the general public.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR Compliance)

For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with similar data protection frameworks, we process your Personal Data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Consent: You have given clear, informed consent for us to process your data for a specific purpose (e.g., subscribing to a newsletter or accepting non-essential cookies).
  • Contractual Necessity: Processing is necessary to fulfill a contract with you or to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract (e.g., responding to a specific service inquiry).
  • Legitimate Interests: Processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests (such as improving our website, ensuring security, and analyzing trends), provided these interests are not overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms.
  • Legal Obligation: Processing is necessary for us to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation to which we are subject.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, or other device when you visit our website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the owners of the site. Calculatorzed uses the following categories of cookies:

6.1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the basic functioning of our website. They enable core functionalities such as security, network management, and accessibility. You cannot opt out of these cookies as the website cannot function properly without them. They do not require your consent under most privacy laws.

6.2. Functional Cookies

These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your preferred calculator settings, language, or region) and provide enhanced, more personalized features. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.

6.3. Analytical and Performance Cookies

These cookies collect information about how visitors use our website, such as which pages they visit most often and if they receive error messages. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymized. It is only used to improve how our website works and does not identify you personally.

6.4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. You can also delete existing cookies through your browser settings. Please note that if you choose to block or delete cookies, some features of our Platform may not function correctly, and your user experience may be limited.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Data to third parties for their marketing purposes. We only share your information in the following limited and specific circumstances:

7.1. Service Providers and Data Processors

We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you. These providers may include web hosting companies, analytics providers (such as Google Analytics), email delivery services, and customer support platforms. These entities are contractually obligated to process your data only on our behalf, for the specific purposes we dictate, and in accordance with strict confidentiality and security standards.

7.2. Legal Requirements and Law Enforcement

We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order, subpoena, or regulatory investigation). We may also disclose information to protect the safety, rights, or property of Calculatorzed, our users, or the public, or to investigate and prevent fraud or security issues.

7.3. Business Transfers

In the event that Calculatorzed is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of company assets, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will endeavor to notify you via email or a prominent notice on our website before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7.4. Aggregated and Anonymized Data

We may share aggregated, non-personal, or anonymized data with third parties for industry analysis, demographic profiling, marketing, and other business purposes. Because this data does not contain Personal Data and cannot be used to identify you, it is not subject to the restrictions of this Privacy Policy.

8. Data Retention

We retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process it, and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means.

For example, contact form submissions and email correspondence are typically retained for a period of 12 to 24 months to allow for follow-up and historical reference, after which they are securely deleted. Analytical data is retained in an anonymized format for up to 26 months to track long-term trends.

9. Data Security

We take the security of your Personal Data seriously and have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) / Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology, ensuring that data in transit is secure from interception.
  • Access Controls: Access to Personal Data is restricted to authorized personnel on a strict need-to-know basis. Employees and contractors are bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • Secure Infrastructure: Our servers are hosted in secure, certified data centers with physical security measures, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Regular Audits: We conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate potential weaknesses in our infrastructure.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Calculatorzed is based in Zambia, but our servers and service providers may be located in other countries. If you are accessing our Services from outside Zambia, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country different from your own, which may have data protection laws that differ from those of your country of residence.

When we transfer your data across borders, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by relevant data protection authorities, to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have specific rights regarding your Personal Data. Calculatorzed is committed to facilitating the exercise of these rights. You may have the right to:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you, along with information about how it is processed.
  • Right to Rectification: Request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data we hold about you.
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Request the deletion of your Personal Data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or when you withdraw your consent.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request that we limit the way we use your data, for example, if you contest the accuracy of the data.
  • Right to Data Portability: Request that we provide your Personal Data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, so you can transfer it to another service provider.
  • Right to Object: Object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on consent to process your data (e.g., for marketing emails). This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided in the “Contact Us” section. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30 days). We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request to ensure the security of your data.

12. Regional Privacy Rights

12.1. For Users in the Republic of Zambia

In accordance with the Data Protection Act No. 3 of 2021, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information and Communications Technologies Authority (ICTA) if you believe your data protection rights have been infringed. We encourage you to contact us first so we can attempt to resolve the issue directly.

12.2. For Users in California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the “sale” of personal information. As stated above, Calculatorzed does not sell your personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, please contact us.

12.3. For Users in the European Economic Area (GDPR)

In addition to the rights listed in Section 11, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe our processing of your Personal Data violates applicable law.

13. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with Personal Data without your consent, please contact us immediately. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers as quickly as possible.

14. Do Not Track (DNT) Signals

Some web browsers incorporate a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Because there is currently no uniform standard for how browsers should interpret DNT signals, Calculatorzed does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your tracking preferences through your browser settings and our cookie management tools.

15. Third-Party Links and Services

Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites, services, or applications that are not operated or controlled by us. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by Calculatorzed. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of any third-party sites. We strongly advise you to read the privacy policies of every website you visit that collects personally identifiable information.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technological developments, legal requirements, or other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice (such as a banner on our homepage or an email notification to registered users). Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

17. Contact Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy, or if you wish to exercise your data protection rights, please contact our Privacy Team. We are committed to addressing your concerns promptly and transparently.
